I’ve worked in child care for over four years before I really began to take it seriously as a career. During that time I simply saw it as a job, and it was only when I had to care for a disabled child that I began to look at becoming a pediatrician, and then a little bit later looking at the possibility of becoming a Pediatric Surgeon. It was a bit of a shock to see how much work I would have to put in, but once I had made up my mind that becoming a surgeon to help children was what I really wanted to do I knew that I would be able to do the work and pass the exams because I really had a desire to succeed.
