A law has been put in place that allows certain people to convert their traditional IRA’s into Roth IRA’s without penalty. It is called the Roth Ira Conversion 2010. It was put in place by President Bush and it only allows persons with adjusted gross income in excess of a hundred thousand dollars to get the conversion penalty free. It doesn’t make sense to me why he but that single restriction in place. I guess he didn’t want lower income people to be able to take advantage of the conversion. I never understand why the lower incomes are always keep from things like this and the upper incomes get to take advantage of it.
