I’m in the market for a new hot water heater, since the one I have is apparently getting close to its life expectancy (either that or my plumber is trying to drum up some extra business!) I figure it’s better to replace it before it springs a leak, rather than have to deal with the consequences of that problem. But I’m thinking it might also be nice to get a green hot water heater, one that is going to wind up saving me money on energy bills. In the long run, I might even come out ahead if I play my cards right! The tankless design is interesting, since it doesn’t have to heat a full tank of water all the time, even when I’m not using it. Are these the most energy efficient type of water heaters, or should I consider something else as well?
