The study states that up to 20 percent of patients have a close relative suffering from the disease. In some of the cases the relatives have also been found to be affected by Crohn's disease. The study also talks about various researches that say that some genes may be involved to cause the disease. However the study states one shortcoming, there is no sure shot method to guess if any family member will be affected by the disease in future.
