As I look out at the back yard at night or when we drive up to the house in the evening, I can’t believe what a difference better outdoor lighting has made to not only the overall appearance of the property but also to the security of the house. We haven’t had the lighting installed but about a month, so I still really appreciate the “before” and “after” aspects. We did the back yard ourselves after we had a landscaper look at the area and draw up plans and then had the front yard done by the landscaper himself. That helped to save on the cost and we also had his advice when he was installing the front yard lighting. We had many choices and also some ideas of our own which turned out not to be so easy to actually do without some professional help.But now all the dark areas around the house are gone and our house has turned into a showpiece in the neighborhood.

I have found that once you have replaced a household faucet, its not that big of a deal. Porbably the most important thing to remember is to turn off the water.  Hopefully, your old faucet had shutoff valves on both the hot and cold water side.  But in any case, turn off the main supply valve for water to your house.  Yes, that’ probably the one in the back of a corner that nobody ever goes in. Then make sure to turn on some faucets that you are not working on to relieve the pressure and get rid of water still in the line. That will save you taking an unwanted shower under the sink while you do the replacement.

I know most people could care less about there neighbors. You may give lip service to them as far as saying you care but when push comes to shove, its every man or woman for themself.  The problem is that is doesn’t work for fossil fuels.  If you start thinking about things like  hybrid domestic vehicles you will see how going green energy programs really have their place.  It save YOU money and it helps everyone in the the long run. If my little wind turbine and my Prius save me money plus help the “big picture” I am all for it.  

My wife and I decided that we wanted all hard surfaces when we purchased a home about 4 years ago.  And for the most part we love having the hard surfaces.  You know when they need cleaned, and you can tell when they are not.  However, the surfaces seem to get really dull with the cleaning agents that we are using.
