In late 90's under the command of Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, the USD Comptroller and the Assistant Secretary of Defense Command, Control, made a requisition to the USD department to convene a Defense Science Board regarding the human resource system of Military Personnel Information.
After much conciliation, a system was designed to come into operation by the name of DIMHS (Defense Integrated Military human resource system). This system performs four key elements of recording information for both, Army and Air Force personnel under one record. It performs integrated function of a payroll data. Apart from that, it generates joint system for joint commands and self service operations where the service members can view and update data.
