You must make sure you are not giving out your credit card number to anyone who is not authorized. Well, in the wake of phishing scams, you have to also be wary if an email comes to you, supposedly from your credit card provider, and they want your credit card number for verification. Make sure you do not give out the credit card number even to your own bank without any sort of confirmation from them first. For authentic verification purposes, just the last four digits of your credit card are important.
