Buying a tractor is no little thing.  In fact it is a major purchase for any farmer and needs to be something that is researched.  Because of the importance of buying not only the right one, but at the right time there are things called tractor reports.  I am just now learning about these, but know that they give an unbiased review of each kind of tractor out there.  I cannot imagine ever buying a car without some kind of review, therefore a farmer would never want to buy a piece of equipment like this without one either.  They can make or break the season.

I’ve found the tractor reports to be very helpful when looking to buy a new tractor. They can help you to find out if there are any major problems with the tractor and can also help you to decide if a particular tractor is suitable for the work you have planned for it.

The Nebraska test laboratory has a whole catalogue of tractor test reports available on most tractors manufactured by the leading companies. Each report is very detailed allowing you to see at a glance the key information you need. Each report contains information on power and fuel consumption, tractor sound level, details of the tires and weight, hydraulic performance and hitch dimensions. Comments are also included on any repairs needed during the tests.

Reading tractor reports can certainly give lots of information about tractors that have been sold in the past. They include detailed information about the strengths and weakness of different manufacturer’s models. It’s a good way to find out if the tractor you’re considering is capable of doing your job.

When I’m buying farming equipment online I always contact the seller. I ask about the general running order of the machine and if they have any more pictures they can send me by email or post so I can have a closer look. I’ve found that building up a relationship with the seller over a few days either by phone or email helps me decide if it’s the right product for me.

If you are buying online and won’t see the tractor until after it’s shipped to you then you need to be pretty sure the information available on the site is genuine. If the price is reasonable it’s advisable to contact the seller and have a chat about the general condition of the tractor before committing yourself to the purchase.

There’s many online auctions where you can put in a bid for tractors and farm equipment. The auction has a time limit and usually there is a reserve price for the item. If you put in a bid above the reserve others can come along and bid higher than you. The last few minutes of the auction can be crucial and make the difference as to whether you’re successful or not.

I use tractorhouse.com to find out the latest costs of tractors and loads of other farm machinery. It’s very quick and easy to use, all you need to do is put in your search terms and up comes a list of equipment currently available for sale.

The internet is a great place for buying tractors. If you’re looking for a used tractor there are some amazing deals to be had online. You need to do your research first and it helps if you narrow your search to include some questions about the make and model, the price range and the age of the tractor you’re interested in.
