We know much about Robert Schumann but little about his wife, the indefatigable Clara Schumann yet it is Clara who played the biggest role in popularizing the works of her husband.Clara schumann was the daughter of Robert’s music teacher, Friedrick Wieck. While her father was opposed to her daughter marrying Robert, the couple eventually got married in 1840. In addition to raising their children, Clara Schumann played a great role in keeping Robert’s music alive by performing it especially when her husband lost his ability to play after injuring his hands.
